Cannabis Analysis: Quality Control at its Finest

Analytical techniques exhibit a major role in the cannabis field for quality control, potency investigation, safety assessments, and research studies. Many analytical techniques are applied to determine the qualification and quantitation of cannabinoids and terpenes, such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC).

In 2019, the Center of Plant-produced Biopharmaceutical for Dentistry of Chulalongkorn University (CU BoD) was created under the collaboration of Leapdelab Company, the Faculty of Dentistry of Chulalongkorn University, and the Dental Association of Thailand as a center to study plant cultivation, develop cannabis analytical techniques, and perform cannabis green extraction. Nowadays, this center is open to service and receives cannabis, hemp, and its products from external customers who need to analyze the cannabinoid contents by HPLC. There are many forms of products that the center can analyze, including dry flowers, CBD oil, concentrated extracts, nanogels, and encapsulates.
